The meme above presents a grossly misleading narrative. The idea that Democrats, specifically Kamala Harris and her party, created all the problems in the first place is not only overly simplistic but also ignores the complex nature of governance and the obstructionist role Republicans have played over the years.
The meme conveniently forgets that many of the issues Democrats are working to fix today were either exacerbated or directly caused by Republican policies. For example, the massive tax cuts for the wealthy under the Trump administration significantly increased the national debt, while deregulation efforts harmed the environment and public health. These policies didn’t benefit the working class or middle America–they worsened income inequality and made life harder for millions of Americans.
Let’s not forget that our nation had just escaped the debt of World War II by having a fair, progressive tax, which Reagan (and the Republicans in Congress) abolished in favor of a policy we now know drives wealth inequality: trickle-down economics. Any dollar over a million was taxed at 71%, and Republicans took that number down to 28%. Democrats have been trying to convince the masses that this needs to change for years, without popular support because Republicans have incredibly used dishonest media and propaganda to turn the average American into a voter against their own interests.
Democrats, led by leaders like Kamala Harris, are working to undo the damage caused by years of Republican neglect and mismanagement. They’re pushing for policies that help working families, improve healthcare, protect the environment, and strengthen the economy for everyone, not just the rich. The notion that Democrats are responsible for all the problems they now seek to fix is a talking point divorced from the reality. And the Republican solution to the problem of the massive deficit that they caused by reducing U.S. government income? Provide fewer services to the people that need them the most!
Here’s a long list of Kamala Harris Accomplishments
I assume this meme is also partially referring to inflation. Republicans have done an incredible job of propagandizing and convincing voters that Biden is to blame for inflation. CNBC reported that neither president is substantially to blame, but one must wonder if we had a COVID response that was more targeted, quick, and embraced science, how much better off we would’ve been. When Trump acted slowly, the Fed took it upon themselves to start creating money, which exacerbated inflation. There are long and variable lags in the economy, and we saw the result of Trump’s failures a few months into Biden’s term. The Inflation Reduction Act championed by Democrats was the first step to solving inflation which helped assure that the least among us would be able to keep up. We are seeing the long and variable lags play out right now as inflation has finally abated to 2.5% as covid supply chains are repaired and the effects of the Inflation Reduction Act have taken hold. Further, while prices are up, the average wage is as well! In fact, wages have kept up with inflation,
What is the main talking point that Trump is blaming Kamala for? Immigration.
The truth is, Biden asked Kamala to determine a plan on how we could fix our immigration issues and border security. She did that. Her work was integrated into the most substantial bipartisan border bill in history that would’ve gone a long way to solving the issues Americans are concerned with. Just before Republicans (who supported it overwhelmingly) were to sign the bill, Trump called them and told them not to sign it because it would give Democrats a political victory and hurt his chances of re-election. This just goes to show, DonTheCon is a man that cares about himself first and America last.
No party is perfect, but to suggest that the Democrats are to blame while ignoring the role of Republican obstructionism, mismanagement, and harmful policies is intellectually dishonest. The Democratic Party, including Kamala Harris, is focused on building a better future for all Americans, despite the numerous challenges inherited from previous Republican administrations.
