Here’s how to save Americans from Republican-led misinformation

  • by

Atheists have an advantage in exposing theism as untenable—their arguments remain constant, unlike Republican propaganda, which shifts every 2-4 years with each election cycle’s new set of fake issues. From trickle-down economics to ‘stop the steal,’ purveyors of truth face an ever-changing landscape of misinformation. Meanwhile, millions are engulfed in a 24/7 stream of right-wing propaganda, voting against their own interests in favor of billionaires.

Genuine journalism offers an escape, but right-wing media indoctrinates, making its followers resistant to facts. A Fox News viewer knows less than someone who watches no news at all. The most promising solution? Litigation. Alex Jones was sued into bankruptcy, and Fox News paid $787.5 million for election lies. Imagine a charity that funds lawsuits against disinformation. As fake networks face legal consequences, viewers might return to reputable news, reversing propaganda’s damage and restoring America’s grasp on reality.

Republicans have disinformed voters so significantly that they moved the political center in USA

It’s nothing to be proud of, especially considering the threat they now pose, but it’s something they’ve done incredibly well. I’ve referred to the work by Political Compass for many years and want to share their assessment of 2024 (attached). But I also want us to talk about the great harm Republicans have caused to America.

Are you as frustrated as I am with this one thing they’ve done well? They’ve convinced people that centrist-right politicians are the radical left, all while moving us towards a theocratic or authoritarian dictatorship designed to benefit billionaires and weaken us as a nation.

The image above might be jarring to some and I should note that I believe Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are excellent candidates on their own. Separately, it is imperative that any American who cares about democracy, the people in America, or their own lives absolutely must ensure that Trump/Vance are never given power again.

The 4 Years Democrats Held Full Power: A Period of Unmatched Progress in the Last 16 Years

  • by

The Republican claim that Democrats held power for “12 out of the last 16 years” is highly misleading. In reality, Democrats had control of the Senate, House, and White House for only 4 of those years—2009-2010 under Obama, and 2021-2022 under Biden. During these periods, Democrats passed significant legislation like the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and the Dodd-Frank Act, which helped stabilize the economy after the 2008 financial crisis. In Biden’s term, key achievements included the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.

For the remaining 12 years, Republicans either held the House, Senate, or both, and they used their majorities to obstruct Democratic efforts to pass meaningful legislation. The myth that Democrats have held continuous power ignores this obstruction and undermines the legislative progress made during the brief periods when Democrats held a unified government.

Defending Secularism: Why Voting for Democrats Is Crucial to Protecting Our Freedoms

  • by

Republicans are systematically pushing Christianity into public schools, undermining the separation of church and state. With the Supreme Court now skewed by unethical confirmations under Trump, we face a real threat to our secular democracy. The GOP’s actions, including introducing the Bible in Oklahoma’s K-12 education and the Ten Commandments in Louisiana classrooms, are blatant violations of the Constitution. The only way to counter this is by electing Democrats who prioritize rational, empathetic governance to safeguard our freedoms and address the pressing issues facing our nation.
